If you are experiencing gum recession or would like to learn more about gum regeneration or gum grafting, you have come to the right place.

What is Gum Regeneration?

Gum regeneration is a process that stimulates the growth of new gum tissue. It is often used to treat gum recession, which occurs when the gum tissue pulls away from the tooth, exposing the root. Gum regeneration can help reverse the effects of gum recession by promoting the growth of new gum tissue to cover the exposed root.

How is Gum Regeneration Performed?

Gum regeneration is typically performed using a technique called guided tissue regeneration. During this procedure, the periodontist will make a small incision in the gum tissue to access the root of the tooth. They will then place a membrane or other material between the gum tissue and the root of the tooth, which will encourage the growth of new gum tissue.

What is Gum Grafting?

Gum grafting is a surgical procedure that involves taking gum tissue from one area of the mouth and grafting it onto the area where the gum tissue has receded. This procedure can help restore the natural contour of the gumline and protect the tooth from further damage caused by gum recession.

How is Gum Grafting Performed?

During a gum grafting procedure, the periodontist will first numb the area with a local anesthetic. They will then make a small incision in the gum tissue to access the root of the tooth. Next, they will take a small amount of gum tissue from the roof of the mouth or another donor site and graft it onto the area where the gum tissue has receded. The gum tissue will then be secured in place with stitches.
